Salary per hour (exc. super):  $33.71
Hours per fortnight:  Up to 32
Employment Status: Fixed Term Part Time (until 31/12/2026)

A Registered Undergraduate Student of Nursing (RUSON) or Registered Undergraduate Student of Midwifery (RUSOM) within Clinical Operations is a person who is currently enrolled at a university undertaking undergraduate nursing or midwifery studies, is registered with AHPRA as a student nurse or midwife, and who, at commencement, has successfully completed not less than twelve (12) months of the Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery degree.


The RUSON/RUSOM assists in the delivery of patient-centred, evidence-based care within a multidisciplinary team environment. Under the delegation and supervision of a registered nurse, the RUSON/RUSOM works collaboratively with other health care professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients in their care.


The RUSON/RUSOM will be allocated to Clinical Operations and will work in accordance with specific ward duty lists as directed by the nurse in charge. The RUSON/RUSOM forms an integral part of the Clinical Operations team.

    • Psychiatric Older Persons Units

    • Women’s Ward (RUSOM only)

    • Children’s Ward

    • Ward 4A – Medical

    • Ward 5A – Medical

    • Ward 4B – Orthopaedic

    • Ward 6B – Surgical

    • Ward 4C – Rehabilitation

    • Ward 5C – Rehabilitation

    • Specialist Palliative Care & Evaluation Unit

    • Ward 6C – Medical/Respiratory

    • Renal Services

    • Emergency Department

    • Gibson Street Complex (Aged Care: Joan Pinder & Stella Anderson)

Your New Division


The Clinical Operations Division encompasses acute,  cancer and mental health services.  We provide a wide range of general medical, surgical and specialty services including but not limited to; Oncology, Cardiology, Renal, Emergency, Women’s and Children’s, Critical Care, Specialist Clinics, Cancer Clinics and Mental Health Services.


Within a state-of-the-art hospital, our Ambulatory and Critical Care, Medical Services, Surgical Services and Women’s and Children’s (including an Early Parenting Centre) areas use the latest technologies to provide excellent care.  Our world class Cancer Centre uses a multi-disciplinary, integrated approach to treat specific cancers. The Cancer Centre offers medical oncology, radiation oncology, specialist nurses, clinical trials and cancer research, palliative care, and a Cancer Wellness Program.


The Mental Health Service provides psychiatric care and treatment across a large catchment covering the Loddon Mallee region. Family sensitive practice is central to our models of mental health care and best practice ensures the identification, inclusion and support of families, carers and children.


Each year our onsite Specialist Clinics provide over 100,000 service events, we also see more than 60,000 people in our Emergency Department and welcome around 1700 babies into the world. The Clinical Operations Division assists with the admission of more than 50,000 patients into the hospital each year.
