RELYzIT Talent is seeking four elite AI Security Experts to join a high-impact mission with our client’s Office of the CISO. This is a freelance opportunity for senior professionals ready to shape the future of AI security within a critical federal environment. Your expertise will directly influence the security and governance of AI/GenAI systems at the heart of public safety.

As an AI Security Expert, you will deliver an independent, authoritative assessment of AI/GenAI usage, governance, and security posture for our client’s federal police entity. Your work will drive strategic decisions, ensure compliance with the European AI Act, and safeguard sensitive data and operations. The stakes are high: your insights will help protect critical infrastructure and set the standard for responsible AI in law enforcement.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead a comprehensive inventory and risk assessment of AI/GenAI usage, including shadow AI, across the organization.


• Analyze and evaluate AI governance structures: policies, roles, and responsibilities for responsible AI use.


• Assess AI-specific threats such as data leakage, prompt injection, and model security vulnerabilities in deployed applications.


• Conduct a gap and compliance analysis against the European AI Act and related regulatory obligations, including GDPR alignment.


• Organize and facilitate interviews and workshops with key stakeholders: IT, data/AI teams, business units, and the DPO.


• Document findings and develop a substantiated, actionable improvement plan with concrete recommendations.


• Present results and recommendations to the CISO and executive stakeholders, ensuring clarity and impact.


• Transfer knowledge and ensure a smooth handover to the CISO’s team at mission closure.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven expertise in AI/GenAI security, including prompt injection, data leakage, model security, and adversarial ML.


• Deep understanding of AI governance, risk management frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001), and responsible AI policies.


• Comprehensive knowledge of the European AI Act, GDPR, and related compliance requirements.


• Demonstrated experience conducting AI/GenAI risk assessments, including shadow AI inventory and audit methodologies.


• Exceptional ability to deliver clear, concise, and executive-level reporting under tight deadlines.


• Autonomous, impact-driven mindset with a track record of authoritative advice and ownership in short-term, high-stakes missions.


• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging stakeholders at all levels.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in AI/GenAI security: prompt injection, data leakage, model security, adversarial ML.


• Familiarity with AI governance and risk management frameworks: NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001.


• In-depth knowledge of the European AI Act, GDPR, and regulatory compliance for AI systems.


• Assessment and audit methodologies for AI applications and shadow AI.


• Advanced reporting and documentation skills for executive and technical audiences.

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch or French is required.


• Bilingualism (Dutch and French) is a strong asset.


• Professional proficiency in English is required.

Other Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent through extensive relevant experience.


• Relevant certifications are an asset (e.g., ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor/Implementer, AI governance certifications, CISSP, CISM).


• SFIA Level 5 – Ensure, advise: authoritative, senior/expert profile.


• Freelance position: Temporary mission of approximately 3 months, full-time.


• Work arrangement: Combination of office and remote work (Brussels-based).


• Collaboration with the Office of the CISO, IT services, data/AI teams, and DPO.


• Explicitly not a junior profile; requires autonomous operation and high-level advisory capability.
