RELYzIT Talent is seeking an elite OT Data Engineer (Freelance) to join our client’s OT Network Management Systems department for a 24-month project in Melle, Belgium. This is a unique opportunity to shape the backbone of industrial data infrastructure, ensuring real-time and historical data flows seamlessly and securely. As an OT Data Engineer, you will be pivotal in managing and evolving the data processing landscape, directly influencing business continuity, data-driven decision-making, and the integration of new technologies. Your work will ensure that critical data is always available, reliable, and actionable—empowering analysts, data scientists, and the business at large to innovate and excel.

What You’ll Be Doing

• End-to-end management and continuous development of OT data processing pipelines, from real-time field data to historical data platforms.


• Ensuring system stability, security, and performance through proactive health checks, upgrades, and patching.


• Planning and executing data refreshes in close coordination with stakeholders, guaranteeing data quality and integrity.


• Designing, implementing, and optimizing infrastructure and databases to make data accessible for business analytics and data science teams.


• Driving new business integrations and responding to evolving requirements through research, development, and continuous improvement.


• Maintaining and enhancing Linux and Oracle environments, ensuring seamless operation of mission-critical applications.


• Supporting the setup and maintenance of Apache Cassandra environments and other specialist systems as needed.


• Championing security best practices, including ISO27001 operations, to safeguard sensitive OT data.


• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions in a dynamic, mission-critical environment.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven ownership mindset with a passion for building, optimizing, and securing complex data systems.


• Demonstrable experience as a System Administrator in ICT infrastructure environments (minimum 5 years, senior level).


• Track record of building new data products, integrations, and projects in high-stakes settings.


• Expertise in data management, including data quality, refresh cycles, and stakeholder coordination.


• Hands-on experience with setup and maintenance of Linux and Oracle environments (senior level).


• Strong background in relational databases (Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL) and scripting (Python, Shell).


• Systems engineering experience in at least one specialist system: Unix, Linux, or Windows.


• Demonstrated learning agility and a proactive, solution-oriented attitude.


• Experience with large, mission-critical applications and a security-first mindset (ISO27001 operations).


• Experience with Apache Cassandra environments (medior level) and OT SCADA systems is a plus.


• Higher education (bachelor’s or master’s) or equivalent through experience.


• Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is required.

Technical Skills
