Job Description - QC Welding & Structural Inspector

Job Title: QC Welding & Structural Inspector (Resident Inspector)

We ARE looking for an experienced QC Welding & Structural Inspector to act as a Resident Inspector at a project in Antwerp, Belgium. You will oversee welding and structural quality inspections, ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable standards and quality requirements. The role requires extensive experience in shipyard or fabrication yard environments, preferably within the offshore renewable energy industry, and a strong background in welding, structural inspection and EPCI projects.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Perform quality inspections of welding and structural fabrication activities.

Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved procedures, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and applicable standards.

Review welding procedures, NDT reports, inspection records and quality documentation.

Identify and report defects, deviations and non-conformities, and follow up on corrective actions.

Monitor contractor compliance with project Quality Management Systems and quality requirements.

Coordinate with contractors, third-party inspectors, certification bodies and project stakeholders.

Monitor quality performance and prepare inspection reports.

Support quality control activities at the assigned fabrication yard and other project locations as required.

Requirements / Your Profile:

Mandatory: 10–15 years of relevant experience in welding and structural inspection and quality control.

Mandatory: Significant experience in inspections and quality control within a shipyard or fabrication yard environment, preferably in offshore renewable energy.

Relevant technical degree, diploma or equivalent recognized qualification in welding and structural inspection.

Recognized welding inspection certifications

Experience working on EPCI contracts.

Strong understanding of welding, structural fabrication and quality control processes.

Excellent written and spoken English.

Experience and qualifications in corrosion protection and coating inspection are an advantage.

Mandatory: Relevant experience and qualifications must be clearly demonstrated on the CV, with valid supporting certificates provided alongside the technical and commercial offer.

Candidates based in or near Antwerp, Belgium, are preferred.

Location: Leo Bosschartlaan 20, 2660 Hoboken, Antwerp, Belgium, with travel required.

Contract type: Freelance

Start date: 23.11.2026

Duration: 8 months, (possible extension until 2030)
