Senior Business Intelligence Specialist (Freelance) - 12 months - Belgium

RELYzIT Talent is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Specialist for a high-impact, freelance mission with our client in Belgium. As a Senior BI Specialist, you will architect and deliver a robust Decision Information System, enabling cross-functional teams to analyze, report, and act on critical KPIs. Your work will be foundational in transforming fragmented data into a unified, high-value asset—fueling smarter public services and digital innovation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the design, modeling, and implementation of a decision support database (DDB) integrating multiple data sources (Oracle, Alfresco, MySQL/MariaDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Excel, APIs, web analytics, and more).


• Drive the full ETL process: connect to, extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into the DDB, ensuring data quality, consistency, and optimal structure for analysis.


• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to capture and formalize business knowledge, translating it into semantic layers, universes, and actionable reports.


• Develop and optimize dashboards and reports using Power BI and other BI tools (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Azure DataFactory, SAPBI), enabling real-time insights and KPI tracking.


• Analyze existing reports (Excel, SAP BO) and data flows to rationalize and consolidate information for advanced analytics.


• Prototype and deliver a Proof of Concept (POC) for cross-cutting analytics, iterating through experimentation and close stakeholder collaboration.


• Document all processes, data models, and integration flows to ensure knowledge transfer and future scalability.


• Support the industrialization and automation of the POC, integrating with cloud or on-premise infrastructure as required.


• Participate in brainstorming sessions, knowledge acquisition, and continuous improvement initiatives within a dynamic, experimental project framework.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Senior-level expertise in Business Intelligence (BI), data integration, and architecture.


• Deep experience with database technologies: Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL.


• Advanced proficiency in BI tools: Power BI, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Azure DataFactory, SAPBI.


• Strong programming and development skills: Python, Matlab, C, C++, Java, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP, R.


• Demonstrated ability to capture and formalize business knowledge, design semantic layers, and create impactful reports and dashboards.


• Experience analyzing and integrating data from application databases, APIs, Excel, and web analytics platforms (Matomo, Google Analytics).


• Track record of delivering POCs and scaling BI solutions in experimental or agile environments.

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in French (oral and written) is essential.
