About the Role

RELYzIT Talent is seeking a Senior ICT Expert (UX/UI Designer) for a freelance assignment with our client in Brussels (Schaerbeek), Belgium. This 13-month engagement is your opportunity to shape the digital experience for critical financial and budgetary applications within a high-impact public sector environment. You’ll collaborate with a team of passionate builders, leveraging your expertise to create intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling solutions that empower users and drive organizational transformation.

Our client’s Policy Support, Budget and Financial Operations (BOBFO) division is on a mission to modernize and professionalize its digital service center. With the Budget and Consolidation Tool (BCT) at the heart of financial operations, your work will directly influence how budget preparation, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting are experienced by users across the organization. As a Senior ICT Expert, you will be instrumental in translating complex requirements into elegant, user-centric designs—ensuring that digital tools are not just functional, but truly empowering.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and iterating wireframes, prototypes, and visual interfaces that exceed user expectations.


• Conducting usability testing to gather actionable insights and inform design decisions.


• Collaborating closely with business and IT teams to define and refine the UX/UI of software solutions.


• Ensuring consistency in design language and branding across all digital touchpoints.


• Translating complex business and technical challenges into simple, elegant, and effective user experiences.


• Integrating user feedback throughout all phases of the design and development lifecycle.


• Applying modern UX/UI methodologies to deliver accessible, inclusive, and user-friendly products.


• Supporting the creation and maintenance of robust design systems.


• Partnering with fellow UX/UI designers and cross-functional teams to drive innovation and best practices.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Demonstrable experience as a senior UX designer.


• Expertise in creating designs using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Invision, and Figma.


• Proven experience with Azure DevOps.


• Strong background in designing and iterating wireframes, prototypes, and visual interfaces.


• Experience in setting up and maintaining comprehensive design systems.


• Deep knowledge of responsive screen design and modern UX/UI methodologies.


• Demonstrable experience with content design, especially for content-driven pages (preferred).


• Experience on projects for the Flemish government, ideally involving interaction with agencies and cabinets (preferred).


• Familiarity with JIRA (nice to have).


• Higher education (Master or Bachelor) in a technical/engineering field, or equivalent experience with ICT technology relevant to the role.

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is required.

Other Requirements

• Demonstrable experience with the relevant technology or similar technologies at a senior level.


• Ability to apply modern UX/UI methodologies to create accessible, inclusive, and user-friendly software.


• Experience working in Agile/Scrum or similar collaborative project frameworks is an advantage.
