RELYzIT Talent is seeking a Senior Security Engineer for a high-impact freelance assignment with our client, a leader in the safe processing of radioactive waste and the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. What You’ll Be Doing

• Proactively identify and initiate technical process optimizations in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.


• Analyze and apply lessons learned and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.


• Monitor, adjust, and optimize process installations, ensuring technical and operational documentation is up to date.


• Prepare, guide, and execute in-depth calculations, analyses, and research to support project adjustments and innovations.


• Design installations and processes, develop new models and methodologies, and create technical notes, studies, and procedures.


• Develop technical solutions and specifications to address improvement needs, translating requirements into compliant, actionable plans.


• Conduct and participate in risk analyses (HAZOP, FMEA, SWIFT, MOC) and establish robust safety measures for projects and operational changes.


• Lead, organize, and direct projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.


• Draft and monitor project schedules and budgets, coordinate stakeholder consultations, and report on project progress.


• Manage project, maintenance, and framework contracts in compliance with Public Procurement Law, serving as lead official to mitigate legal risks.


• Develop and coordinate tender documents, guide the award process, and oversee contract execution and adjustments.


• Provide expert technical advice to stakeholders, monitor deliverables, and facilitate analyses and projects based on deep subject matter expertise.


• Safeguard the maintainability, safety, availability, and reliability of technical installations and processes, both in studies and in the field.


• Develop and maintain acceptance criteria and comprehensive project documentation (including safety, design, and maintenance files).


• Act as a knowledge carrier, centralizing and sharing expertise within the organization, and contribute to training and knowledge preservation initiatives.


• Develop, maintain, and contribute to medium-term maintenance and replacement plans, including budgeting and compliance with standards and legislation.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in designing and verifying technical specifications and standards (Intermediate level).


• Strong track record in planning and managing technical projects, including budget control (Intermediate level).


• Demonstrated ability to provide technical advice and manage projects with a focus on safety and operational excellence (Intermediate level).


• Expertise in conducting risk analyses and solving complex technical problems within regulated environments.


• Ownership mindset: you take initiative, drive outcomes, and thrive in environments where your impact is visible and valued.


• Collaborative spirit: you work seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, both internal and external.

Language Proficiency

Other Requirements

• Freelance position: 4-month project duration, on-site in Antwerpen, Belgium.


• Experience in highly regulated, safety-critical environments (e.g., nuclear, energy, industrial) is preferred.


• Familiarity with public procurement law and procedures.


• Ability to work on-site; remote work is not available for this assignment.


• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.
