About the Role

RELYzIT Talent is seeking an elite Technical Lead Backend (Freelance) to join our client’s core business application development teams in Brussels. This is a freelance opportunity running until late 2026, designed for a builder who thrives on technical leadership, team empowerment, and delivering robust, secure backend solutions. You’ll be the technical reference point, shaping the standards and future of mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership:
  
  
  
  • Guarantee the quality, maintainability, and performance of backend developments.
  
  
  • Establish and promote development standards, best practices, and quality tools.
  
  
  • Conduct or supervise code reviews to ensure technical excellence.
  
  
  • Drive continuous integration and champion DevOps best practices.
  
  
  • Ensure compliance with IT security standards and secure development protocols.
  
  
  
  


• Team Management:
  
  
  
  • Coach and develop the skills of backend developers, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
  
  
  • Provide hands-on technical support for solving complex problems.
  
  
  • Organize and distribute technical tasks within the team for optimal delivery.
  
  
  • Promote knowledge sharing and effective communication across the team.
  
  
  
  


• Project Collaboration:
  
  
  
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders.
  
  
  • Participate in effort estimation and development planning to ensure realistic and impactful outcomes.
  
  
  • Identify, anticipate, and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  
  
  • Monitor and report on the progress of technical work, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  
  
  
  

Technical Skills

• Expertise in .NET Framework and .NET 8+ for backend development


• Mastery of Entity Framework Core


• Proven experience developing RESTful APIs


• Strong command of object-oriented design, software architecture, and design patterns


• Advanced knowledge of relational databases: Oracle (v19+) and SQL Server (2016+)


• In-depth understanding of cybersecurity and secure development best practices


• Hands-on experience with Apache ecosystem solutions for Java hosting


• Proficiency with GIT for version control


• Confirmed experience with Azure DevOps and Agile methodologies


• Solid skills in Java and JSON


• Expert use of Visual Studio
