About the Role

Our client’s Products division is on a mission to transform the future of policing by migrating critical police data from legacy mainframes to a modern, open architecture. As a Web and API Developer, you’ll be at the heart of this transformation, building high-performance, scalable solutions that empower next-generation analytics, AI, and Intelligence-Led Policing. This is a freelance opportunity for elite builders ready to make a real impact.

The DECOM program is a cornerstone initiative to reduce mainframe dependency and unlock the full potential of police data. Your work will directly enable secure, seamless integration of vital police applications, making data more accessible for advanced analytics, AI, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evolve robust applications, APIs, and web services as part of the DECOM migration program


• Lead technical analysis, architecture, and development of data exchange services and REST APIs for integrating diverse police applications


• Enhance and adapt strategic solutions such as PoliceSearch and PolLogs, integrating new features for data analytics, AI, and ILP


• Develop application components using PHP, Python, and JavaScript


• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-performance, secure, and interoperable solutions


• Contribute to defining and refining technical architecture in an Agile/Scrum environment


• Champion best practices in DevOps, CI/CD, and application security


• Participate in automated testing and continuous improvement initiatives

Technical Skills

• Confirmed expertise in API and REST Web Services


• Strong background in Software Architecture


• Advanced PHP development skills


• Proficient in Python development


• Solid experience with JavaScript


• Hands-on with DevOps, MLOps, and GitLab


• Application Security best practices


• Familiarity with Automated Testing (junior level or above)

Language Proficiency

• Professional proficiency in English required


• French or Dutch language skills are a plus

Other Requirements

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments


• Demonstrated rigor, attention to detail, and a quality-oriented mindset


• Proactive problem-solver with a self-taught, autonomous approach


• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team


• Partial remote work authorized (within Belgium); office presence required at least 2 days per week by team agreement


• Start date: 15-09-2026; Duration: 4 months (until 31/12/2026), with possible renewal
