Our team: The English Language Learning Content Development team creates high-quality learning experiences for teachers and learners across print, digital, and hybrid formats. The team partners closely with Product, Content Development, Production, Digital, Assessment, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver content that is pedagogically strong, commercially relevant, and aligned with Pearson standards.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Content Developer to join our English Language Learning team. In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of high-quality English language learning products, ensuring alignment with customer needs, portfolio priorities, pedagogical standards, timelines, budget, and business objectives. This role is ideal for someone with strong ELT/ELL expertise, editorial judgment, project ownership, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, vendors, and content components across the full development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead content development and development editing for English Language Learning products.
- Review and approve manuscripts, assessments, scripts, audio/video materials, image briefs, digital content, and supporting resources.
- Ensure content is pedagogically sound, practical for teachers and learners, and aligned with CEFR, GSE, learning outcomes, and Pearson quality standards.
- Manage projects end-to-end, including scope, schedules, documentation, risks, stakeholder reviews, and delivery milestones.
- Work closely with Product, Content Development, Production, Digital, Assessment, Design, Marketing, vendors, authors, and freelancers.
- Manage external vendors and partners, ensuring clear expectations, quality, timelines, and deliverables.
- Identify risks, recommend solutions, and make informed content decisions to keep projects on track.
- Support continuous improvement, including the use of AI and emerging tools to improve quality, efficiency, and scalability.
Required skills and experience:
Strong alignment with Pearson’s culture and values by demonstrating Pearson’s Essential Behaviors in how you deliver results—not just what you achieve, but how you achieve it.
Experience in English Language Teaching, English Language Learning, educational publishing, or content development.
Previous English language teaching experience or strong ELT expertise.
Strong understanding of ELT/ELL pedagogy, CEFR, GSE, learning outcomes, and language progression.
Experience developing, reviewing, or managing learning materials across print and/or digital formats.
Solid editorial, quality review, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
Experience managing vendors, freelancers, authors, or outsourced content development partners.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, dependencies, and stakeholders in a complex environment.
Confidence to work independently, manage ambiguity, identify risks, and propose practical solutions.
Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies is highly desirable.
Interest in AI, emerging technologies, and new content development practices is desirable.
Advanced English proficiency is required.
