This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a AI Developer Backend Java Senior based in Brazil.
This role is part of a major digital transformation initiative focused on redesigning a large-scale SuperApp, modernizing backend systems and customer journeys across mobile and server-side platforms. You will work at the intersection of backend engineering and AI-driven development, building intelligent integrations and leveraging agent-based workflows to optimize delivery and system performance. The environment is highly technical and innovation-driven, combining Java backend development, cloud-native architecture, and emerging AI-assisted engineering practices. You will contribute to the evolution of microservices and backend-for-frontend layers while ensuring scalability, reliability, and high-quality code standards. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is a key part of the role, alongside active participation in agile ceremonies and DevOps practices. This is a hands-on senior position where your work directly impacts the modernization of critical digital products and user experiences.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement backend integrations for a large-scale SuperApp redesign using Java and cloud-native architectures.
- Apply AI-driven and agent-based development approaches to optimize engineering workflows and delivery efficiency.
- Work with Spec-Driven Development (SDD) methodologies to ensure structured and scalable software delivery.
- Participate actively in agile ceremonies, deployments, and release management processes (RDMs).
- Ensure high standards of code quality through unit testing, peer code reviews, and best engineering practices.
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Jira.
- Build and maintain microservices and backend-for-frontend (BFF) components in distributed environments.
- Contribute to system reliability, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Strong senior-level experience in backend development with Java in production environments.
- Proven experience working with AI-assisted development or agent-based workflows (AI development exposure required).
- Solid understanding of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) principles.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude Code, MCPs, and related development frameworks is highly valued.
- Experience building microservices architectures and working in multi-repository (multi-repo) environments.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, especially AWS services (EKS, SQS, S3).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, and SonarQube.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
- Autonomous, adaptable, and resilient mindset in fast-changing technical environments.
- Knowledge of Android or iOS development is a plus.
