Driller

The role:
Ventia are currently recruiting Conventional / RC Hammer/ water well Drillers to operate and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the rig and ensure rig crews perform their jobs safely and efficiently. The Driller has ongoing long-term responsibility for operations, maintenance and management of the allocated rig. Conventional or RC hammer Driller to drill 400-700metre holes at Olympic Dam. Diamond drilling experience would also be considered.

This is a casual position on a 2:2 roster, with flexibility required to move to a 2:1 roster during periods of increased workload. Ventia provides return flights from capital cities to Roxby Downs, along with accommodation while on site.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Operate the drill rig, including site setup, auxiliary equipment and loading of production/drill casing.


• Complete Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), audits and site inspections, ensuring all work is performed safely.


• Maintain and service downhole drilling equipment, motor vehicles and associated plant equipment.


• Manage stocktakes, place rig orders and load/unload trucks.


• Conduct toolbox meetings and mentor offsiders.


• Contribute to a strong safety culture and work with due care for your own safety and that of others.

About you:

• Hold an open (unrestricted) HR Driver’s Licence.


• Hold the following certificates/licences or be willing to obtain:
  
  
  
  
  • First Aid.
  
  
  • Forklift.
  
  
  • Backhoe.
  
  
  • Front End Loader.
  
  
  • Cert III in Drilling Operations (required).
  
  
  • Class 1, 2, 3 Water Well Drilling Licence.
  
  
  
  


• Be able to pass pre-employment checks, including a police check and in-clinic medical (including drug and alcohol testing).


• Be safety conscious and able to work effectively in a team environment.


• Have previous labouring/offsider experience and be physically fit for hands-on, physically demanding work.
