The British College of Brazil (BCB) is one of the leading international schools in Sao Paulo, the biggest and one of the most important cities in Brazil, offering contemporary British international education to students from Pre-Nursery through to Secondary, teaching ages 2 to 17 bilingually in English and Portuguese. Founded in 2011 BCB is a private IB day school and has established itself as the school of choice for international families and internationally minded Brazilian families within Sao Paulo.

Job Description

The Human Resources Director (HRD) will utilize solid business acumen to partner with the management team regarding recruiting and retention, employee relations, payroll and benefits, and training and development. This position reports to the Head of School (and is part of the Extended Senior Leadership Team at the school and the Regional HR Leadership Team) and the Regional Human Resources Director. The HRD will be responsible of the HR functions at the school level and be an enabler of Nord Anglia culture and processes at the school. Engaging with the regional HR team to ensure alignment and effectiveness.



  • Serve as a strategic HR partner to school leadership, driving people initiatives that support organizational goals and employee success.

  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, occupational health and safety requirements, and audit standards.

  • Oversee HR operations, including payroll, benefits, employee lifecycle processes, budget management, and HR systems administration.

  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and international mobility programs to attract and retain top talent.

  • Drive employee engagement, performance management, talent development, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.

  • Provide guidance to managers on employee relations matters, fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring consistent application of HR policies and practices.

  • Manage compensation and benefits programs, supporting market benchmarking, salary reviews, and employee communications.

  • Strengthen internal communication and collaboration across departments, acting as a key liaison between local leadership and regional HR teams.

Required Skills/Abilities










  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.

  • Fluent English (written and spoken) and Portuguese.

  • Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in HR Generalist, HR Manager, or HR Business Partner roles.

  • Experience across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, employee relations, payroll, and benefits administration.

  • Strong knowledge of labor legislation and HR best practices.

  • Experience preparing, analyzing, and presenting HR reports and metrics.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.

  • Strong analytical mindset with a results-driven approach and focus on KPIs.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Availability to work full-time on-site.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • PHR or SHRM certification.

  • Previous experience in an educational or school environment.

  • Knowledge of international mobility, visa processes, and expatriate support.
