Required Skills & Experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in IT development roles, with a focus on working with large datasets, system integration, and automation.

  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing development teams, including direct line management of developers.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure (security, architecture, and data management)

  • Experience with AI tools for programming (Github Copilot, Replit, Claude, etc)

  • Advanced knowledge of Xceptor or similar automation tools (e.g., RPA, UIPath, Automation Anywhere).

  • Expertise in portfolio accounting systems (e.g., Advent Geneva), data management systems, and integration tools.

  • Solid understanding of OMS/PMS, data warehouse integration, and FTP processes.

  • Knowledge of financial data management, including trade positions, pricing, static data, and corporate actions.

  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to resolve complex system and data issues, ensuring the accuracy of valuations and seamless integration of systems.

  • Demonstrated experience managing large and complex projects, especially in an automation or process improvement context. Strong organizational skills and the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Familiarity with SOC audits and regulatory compliance for portfolio management systems and data management.

  • RPA Tools: Experience working with or managing teams using Robotic Process Automation software (e.g., Automation Anywhere, UIPath).

  • Strong knowledge of various asset types, including listed and OTC derivatives, and their impact on fund operations.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL and experience with database management.

  • Familiarity with VBA, Python, or other coding languages used for automation is a plus.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.

  • Ability to liaise directly with clients to gather requirements and deliver customized solutions.



Core Details and Responsibilities:


As the Manager – Development, you will be responsible for supporting the Catalyst management and operations teams in executing the firm’s automation strategy. You will report to the Director – Technology and Product Solutions.


You will play a critical role in the creation, design, development, and implementation of automation systems that drive business efficiencies. The position requires you to lead back-end development projects across the Microsoft technology stack (MS SQL, Azure, Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Power Platform), oversee the maintenance and enhancement of automation platforms such as Xceptor, and ensure that integrations between core business systems — including OMS, PMS, and data warehouses — operate seamlessly. You will collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure that data systems, automation workflows, and development environments meet operational requirements and support strategic initiatives. You will collaborate with various teams across the organization to ensure the effective integration and execution of automated processes that align with the Catalyst business model.


The role also involves direct interaction with clients on matters relating to their connections, integrations, and use of Catalyst’s business systems.


This role combines technical depth with people leadership. You will mentor your team, set development standards, and act as the senior point of contact for technical solutioning in the Brazil office, working closely with the broader global Technology & Product Solutions team.

Your Daily Tasks


The following are the tasks linked to the Core Responsibilities that will be expected as part of this role:


1. People Management & Team Leadership


These responsibilities cover the day-to-day leadership of the development team. This includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) Team Management: Manage the team of developers in the Brazil office, ensuring each team member has a clear Job Description, defined tasks, and measurable KPIs.


b)Day-to-day Management: Implement weekly task management, weekly team meetings, and respond to ad-hoc needs to keep delivery on track.


c)Performance Management: Provide ongoing feedback, mentorship, and performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative, results-driven environment focused on high-quality delivery.


d)Team Satisfaction: Monitor team capacity and ensure high-level satisfaction and work-life balance.


e) Training & Development: Coordinate and deliver training and development programs for the team, particularly on the Microsoft stack, automation tooling, and AI-assisted development tools.


f) Succession Planning: Identify high-potential and high-risk team members and develop relevant succession plans.


2. Back-End Development & Data Initiatives


Includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) System Integration: Lead efforts to integrate systems with third-party portals and manage data-level initiatives, ensuring data is consolidated, linked, and accessible across the IT ecosystem.


b) Data Architecture & Storage: Design and implement data architecture and storage solutions that are efficient, secure, and scalable, supporting both short-term and long-term business needs.


c) Development Support: Provide hands-on development and maintenance support for the data and development environment and ensure all associated tools function as required.


d) API Development: Develop and manage APIs (REST, SOAP, JSON) for integrating and connecting various systems, ensuring seamless data exchange and operational efficiency.


e) Platform Customization: Customize and extend Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, Dataverse) using JavaScript, JSON, and FetchXML to meet evolving business requirements.


3 Automation Strategy & Platform Management


Includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) Automation Strategy: Support the design and delivery of Catalyst's overall automation strategy by developing automated solutions that align with business objectives and operational goals.


b) Process Automation: Identify key operational processes that can benefit from automation and lead the implementation of RPA solutions to streamline workflows.


c) Xceptor/Azure Maintenance: Take responsibility for building, maintaining, and managing the organization's Xceptor/Azure data and reconciliation hub, ensuring all related systems are fully functional.


d) Application Support & Upgrades: Oversee the support, maintenance, and upgrades of the Xceptor/Azure application, coordinating with the team to ensure new features are implemented on time.


e) Configuration & Customization: Configure Xceptor/Azure to integrate new automation features and ensure it remains aligned with evolving business needs.


f) System Health & Monitoring: Ensure the health and stability of automation platforms through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.


4. System Integration & Data Management


Includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) Bulk Data Management: Work with the team to automate and optimize the management of bulk data for trade positions, pricing, static data, and corporate actions, ensuring seamless integration into portfolio management systems.


b) Core System Integration: Oversee the integration of automation and development solutions with core business systems such as OMS (Order Management Systems), PMS (Portfolio Management Systems), and data warehouses.


c) Corporate Actions: Assist with the automation of corporate actions, from booking through to support and advisory, ensuring all solutions meet regulatory and internal policy requirements.


d) Audit Support: Support the execution of SOC audits for portfolio and data management systems to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards.


5. Collaboration with Stakeholders & Clients


Includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) Business Collaboration: Work closely with key business stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure that data, development, and automation tools meet their needs.


b) Testing & Validation: Ensure that all data initiatives, automations, and development tools are thoroughly tested and meet functional, reporting, and efficiency targets.


c) External Client Support: Act as a primary technical point of contact for external clients on matters relating to their connections, integrations, and use of Catalyst’s business systems. Provide technical support to resolve client-specific issues and deliver high-quality service in collaboration with business teams.


d) Client-Focused Solutions: Interact with clients to understand requirements and ensure that technical and automation solutions are tailored to meet their specific needs.


6. Development Best Practices & Documentation


Includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) Development Best Practices: Ensure the implementation of best practices across all aspects of development and automation, including data architecture, security protocols, version control, and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).


b) Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for development processes, system configurations, automations, and APIs.


c) Security & Compliance: Prioritize security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and data protection laws.


7. Training, Support & Continuous Improvement


Includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) Training Support: Assist in training staff at all levels in the efficient use of the development and automation environments, providing knowledge transfer for internal users.


b) User Support: Act as a senior technical resource for internal users, supporting any system-related issues or queries related to development tools, automation platforms, and integrations.


c) Proactive Monitoring: Monitor the development and automation environment proactively to ensure system security, availability, and operational continuity.


d) Issue Resolution: Take ownership of resolving complex system-based queries that impact the accuracy of position and P&L valuations, working with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot effectively.


e) Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities for process optimization and propose improvements that drive efficiency and business value.


8. Project Participation & Strategic Solutions


Includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) Workstream Participation: Engage in workstreams related to development upgrades, automation rollouts, and the maintenance of information technology services, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.


b) Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, business users, project managers, and implementation managers to develop elegant, scalable solutions to business challenges.


c) Strategic Contributions: Help shape long-term technology and automation strategies by contributing to the development of new products and solutions that address evolving client needs.


d) Trend Awareness: Keep abreast of industry, regulatory, and jurisdictional trends that could affect the development or automation landscape, ensuring Catalyst remains compliant and competitive.


e) Ad-Hoc Support: Provide ad-hoc support for requests as they arise, offering solutions to internal and external stakeholders as required.


9. Risk and Compliance Responsibilities


Includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:


a) Policy Implementation: Help implement compliance policies at the operational level.


b) Monitoring Tools: Utilize tools to monitor compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.


c) Compliance Culture: Work in tandem with the Head of Compliance and Governance to instill a culture of good governance and compliance within the team.


d) Reporting: Assist in preparing compliance reports for management review.


f) Issue Tracking: Track and manage compliance-related issues and follow up on resolutions. Communication: Communicate compliance requirements effectively within the team.
