Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative individual for the position of Occupational Therapist to use a holistic, client, and family-centred approach to optimize client safety, functional ability, and well-being. This individual will enable participation in activities of daily living within the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure throughout each level of the developmental spectrum.
The ideal candidate will have a Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). Certification in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is required. We are looking for someone with experience working with people who have severe and persistent physical and/or mental illness.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Care Transitions, Patient Flow, and Utilization Department at HSN is a diverse and dynamic team that includes an ED Mobility team, High Risk Assessors, Home First Liaisons, Bed Allocation Associates, Patient Flow Supervisors, and Clinical Operations Managers. The main objective of this multidisciplinary department is to improve the flow of clients throughout HSN by addressing issues such as emergency department overcrowding, reducing time to inpatient bed, and facilitating timely discharges.

REHABILITATION PROFESSIONALS INCENTIVE GRANT
The incentive grant program offers taxable incentive grants of up to $5,000 per eligible year, to a maximum of $15,000 paid over a three-year period to audiologists, chiropodists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech language pathologists who establish their practice in Northern Ontario and accept full-time positions which are fully funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and which are approved by the Northern Health Programs (NHP). In order to be eligible for this incentive grant, the NHP must approve the application before the applicant establishes his/her practice. More information regarding this grant can be found here.

Demonstrated knowledge of typical and atypical anatomy/neuroanatomy, physiology/neurophysiology, social sciences (e.g. psychology, sociology, and education), and development across the lifespan.
Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of atypical development on function to inform OT Service in the treatment of disease and conditions.
