What You Will Do

 


Reporting to the Supervisor of Subway Track, you'll oversee the dedicated unionized employees working on the rehabilitation, maintenance, and construction of our subway tracks. Your leadership will ensure that all track-related projects are executed flawlessly.


 


In this role, you'll also manage the efforts of external contractors, ensuring their work meets our high standards. Plus, you'll collaborate closely with the Roadmaster to coordinate, plan, and schedule all track work, making sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.


 


The role involves ensuring that work is completed safely, in alignment with work schedules, and with all necessary materials available on site. It also includes identifying and implementing improvements to equipment or work methods, preparing clear written and verbal reports on workforce activities and equipment, and working closely with the Supervisor to assess current and future manpower and equipment needs.


 


As a TTC employee you are responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer and you will also be participating in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

 



  • You have completed technical high school diploma or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent

  • You have directly related experience working in a leadhand capacity related to track maintenance, repair, replacement and construction.  

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Technologist’s diploma plus supervisory experience in a related field would be an asset.

  • You must possess valid non-probationary Province of Ontario class “G” driver’s license and may need to upgrade to an Ontario class ‘D’ license with a ‘Z’ endorsement. You might also use your own vehicle for work location inspections.

  • Your application showcases a robust understanding of track and road inspection, construction, maintenance, and repair standards, procedures, and practices, along with a solid grasp of related trades.

  • You have the ability to effectively direct and motivate a unionized workforce to achieve objectives.

  • Proficiency in computers and relevant software applications, such as word processing, databases, and scheduling tools, is a significant asset.

  • You are familiar with fundamental budgeting principles.

  • You possess strong mathematical, reading, writing, and blueprint comprehension skills.

  • You demonstrate sound judgment, organizational skills, interpersonal abilities, and excellent communication skills.
