The Accounts Payable Specialist plays an integral role in the daily cash and vendor management of the business. Operating in a high volume, fast-paced environment this role requires time management and organizational skills to thrive.

The Role
Review and processes all invoices for payment generation according to vendor terms and agreements.
Processes cheque requests and pays vendors by monitoring statements.
Resolves purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation, insuring credit is received for outstanding memos, issuing stop payments or purchase order amendments.
Audits employees expense reports against receipts, follows up with any discrepancies for reconciliation.
Charges expenses to accounts and cost centres by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries.
Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies informing manager of any anomalies.
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
Maintains strong vendor relationships and completes ad hoc projects as required
Qualifications
2+ years of Accounts Payable experience
High school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferred
Must be well organized and a self-starter with a strong work ethic
Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi tasking skills
Proficient in Excel and must be able to follow standard filing procedures
Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
Annual salary range: $47,000 - $57,000

The compensation will be determined based on experience, skills set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
