Admissions Evaluator 2

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Reporting to a Manager(s), Admissions, the Admissions Evaluator 2 is an expert member of the undergraduate admissions team and is responsible for admission decisions made on applicant files. Currently, the Admission unit receives over 44000 applicants per year and is responsible for over 54,000 program decisions annually. With over 200 programs and 10 direct entry faculties, the Admissions Evaluator 2 decisions will impact the future of our applicants' education and lives, as well as the reputation of the institution. Of these applicants, over 8,700 represent 141 different countries from across the globe and 143 different curricula which add to the immense complexity of the role and the resulting decisions that are made.

This position is expected to know all aspects of the interpretation, implementation and evaluation of different curricula as well as admission policies and procedures, and ensures the timely evaluation of complex undergraduate admission applications. This may involve evaluation of complex multi curricula, multi faculty, dual credit, pre-professional, and international admission files and decision making on non-standard files. This position must also be knowledgeable in all country specific as well international standard curricula, transferability, and each Faculty’s admission policies outlined in the calendar to interpret and evaluate the credentials and education students present both at the high-school and postsecondary level. In addition, this position must be knowledgeable in respect to institutional accreditation and deem whether or not the institution is of an international standard. Admissions Evaluator 2 is the first point of contact for faculty inquiries regarding admissions, individual files and transfer credit items and are accountable for timely resolution of their concerns. They are responsible for the quality assurance of files by developing and utilizing processes available in Campus Solutions, Slate, Alfresco, and FreshService to ensure files are complete and accurate. They are responsible for reviewing the assigned files of their peers and Admissions Evaluator 1 to provide valuable feedback on performance. The Admissions Evaluator 2 is also responsible for providing subject matter expert (SME) review of resource manuals, providing testing support, and SME representation for the design and implementation of new projects, automation, business process mapping and more. The Admissions Evaluator 2 further supports the Student Service Centre by validating and providing accurate information on Admissions information in their informational resources.

This role provides training resource support for peers, Student Service Centre staff, Faculties, and Admissions Evaluator 1 to achieve the highest level of quality and accuracy in their work. In addition, this position organizes, manages, and is accountable for the overall prioritization of their assigned workload to meet specified, individual or unit target goals and deadlines, in support of faculties’ or stakeholder needs. The Admissions Evaluator 2 analyses and evaluates applications for admission for over 200 programs, with diverse admission criteria which are unique for each of the 15 undergraduate faculties, including Open Studies, to help meet the University’s expanding enrolment goals. Also, this role is responsible for research as needed on specific files, curricula, issues, etc. as well as proactively identifying trends in applicant behaviour or documentation that would be referred to the Specialist, Admissions Research & Curricula. In addition, this role will be the key point of contact for, not only, diverse applicants, but also  international agents, the International Recruitment unit and escalated problems and questions from Advisors and Specialists in the Student Service Centre to ensure progress continues on files from specific countries or relationships that are being targeted. The Admissions Evaluator 2 further requires sensitivity surrounding global events such as conflicts, natural disasters, and refugee status, as well as other circumstances that may adversely affect an applicant's ability to navigate the admission process at the University of Alberta.

• A University degree is required.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a post-secondary office environment required, preferably within post-secondary student services/admissions and with interpreting and applying policies.
