OVERVIEW
The Associate Supplier Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing vendor negotiations, contract execution, and ongoing relationship management within a new portfolio of supplier-managed business. This position is essential for ensuring compliance with legal entities, accurate invoicing, and effective allocation processes while supporting increased front-office volume.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vendor management and will thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. They will utilize their analytical and problem-solving skills to provide insights and recommendations, ensuring that all program components are delivered according to contractual agreements and organizational standards.
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Contract Length: 2 years, with possibility of conversion to FTE
Hours: 9am-5pm ET
Pay: T4 $59 / IC $68
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide input to vendor management policy and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Participate in initiatives as a subject matter expert for vendor arrangements or business processes.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues escalated by end-users or assigned by management.
- Support the management and implementation of documentation, process controls, and knowledge assets required for program operations.
- Coordinate budgets and reporting to track actual results against budget expectations.
- Prepare financial reconciliations and attestation certificates as required.
- Educate and cross-train team members to foster a knowledgeable workforce.
- Support the development and promotion of a business/group vendor management program solution.
- Develop solutions and make recommendations based on business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Provide advice and guidance on the implementation of supplier arrangements to assigned business/group.
- Participate in relationship management between internal business partners and suppliers/service providers.
- Manage the vendor program, ensuring execution of all components and compliance with service level agreements.
- Monitor and track supplier performance, addressing any issues that arise.
- Deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service for routine and non-routine transactions related to program execution.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Analyze data and information to provide program insights and recommendations.
- Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards to communicate performance metrics.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Typically 2-4 years of relevant experience; less experience may be acceptable for candidates with a relevant postsecondary degree.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in supporting vendor programs.
- Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
- Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate ideas and strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear stakeholder engagement.
- Proven collaboration and team skills to work effectively within a group.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex challenges.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive decision-making processes.
- Data-driven decision-making capabilities to support program objectives.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in Coupa or similar vendor management systems.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Copilot is a plus.
PREFERRED
- Postsecondary education, particularly in a relevant field.
- Previous experience in the financial industry, especially with former BMO.
