Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speech-language pathology services to preschool children and adults. HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 37 clinical sites, located in 26 communities. Nationally certified Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists, with support from Communication Disorder Technicians and Administrative Support Professionals, provide core services (prevention, diagnosis, and treatment), develop and monitor provincial clinical standards, and collaborate with partners to deliver a number of special programs (e.g., Autism, Stroke, Cochlear Implant). Established in 1963, HSNS works to prevent and reduce the impact of communication disorders for Nova Scotians.

We are accepting applications for the temporary, part-time position of Audiologist. The home base is HCC. The successful candidate reports to the assigned Manager. Schedule to be determined.



Requirements:



  • Master's Degree in Audiology

  • Nova Scotia College of Audiologists & Speech-Language Pathologists (NSCASLP) licensure or eligible for licensure

  • Effective communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English. If English is not your first language further documents will be required.

  • Flexibility in work schedule to provide evening/weekend services

  • Flexibility to travel on occasion to attend continuing education, events and/or meetings

  • Candidate will have to demonstrate current immunization and/or boosters at the end of the probationary period

  • Recent experience with provision of adult and pediatric audiological diagnostic and management procedures in acute and outpatient settings

  • Recent knowledge of discipline specific best practices in screening, diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic services

  • Experience with hearing aid verification and validation

  • Recent experience with all Cochlear Implant systems approved by Health Canada including evaluation, counseling, fitting, troubleshooting as well as post-operative monitoring

  • Experience with BAHD systems including evaluation, counseling, fitting and troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with assessment procedures for the vestibular system

  • Demonstrated commitment to family-centered care

  • Flexibility in work schedule to support outreach/parachute services

  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of clients and professionals



Assets:



  • Experience working with interprofessional clinical teams and/or working with supportive personnel

  • 2 years of experience with both pediatric and adult caseloads

  • Experience with provision of services via telepractice

  • Experience in providing student supervision

  • Ability to provide consultation and coaching support to Audiology staff

  • Able to start immediately
