The ideal candidate would be the technical authority responsible for the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of backup, and recovery solutions across managed client environments.

This role serves as the highest escalation point for backup-related incidents and recovery operations, providing expertise in Veeam and Acronis technologies while ensuring client data is protected, recoverable, and aligned with business continuity objectives. It also works closely with Infrastructure, Security, Service Desk, and Project teams to develop resilient backup architectures, validate recovery capabilities, implement best practices, and mitigate risks associated with data loss, ransomware, and system outages. The successful candidate combines deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and a customer-focused mindset to deliver reliable data protection services and ensure successful recovery outcomes for clients.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical escalation point for all backup, recovery, and disaster recovery incidents related to Veeam and Acronis platforms.


• Design, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for client environments.


• Perform advanced troubleshooting of failed backups, replication jobs, recovery operations, and storage-related issues.


• Conduct backup health reviews, capacity planning, and optimization assessments.


• Validate backup integrity through regular recovery testing and disaster recovery exercises.


• Develop and maintain backup standards, policies, procedures, and deployment documentation.


• Lead onboarding and migration projects involving backup platform deployment and modernization.


• Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Service Desk teams to ensure data protection requirements are met.


• Perform root cause analysis on backup failures and recurring issues.


• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Service Desk and Infrastructure teams.


• Manage vendor escalations with Veeam, Acronis, Microsoft, storage vendors, and cloud providers.


• Ensure backup environments meet client retention, compliance, and business continuity requirements.


• Create and maintain knowledge base articles and operational documentation.


• Participate in change management and major incident processes.


• Monitor backup platform health and proactively address risks and capacity concerns.

Skills and Experience

• 5–10 years of experience supporting enterprise backup and recovery platforms.


• Experience within an MSP or multi-client environment.


• Proven experience designing and supporting backup solutions for:


• Microsoft 365


• Windows Servers


• VMware vSphere


• Hyper-V


• Azure workloads


• Physical servers and endpoints

Required Certifications:

• ITIL v4 Foundation


• Veeam Backup & Replication Technical Certification (VMCE or equivalent current certification)


• Acronis Cyber Protect Technical Certification

Recommended Certification Track:

• Acronis Certified Engineer

This is a current opportunity with an ideal hiring range of between $70,000 to $85,000 based on skills and experience level.
