 Business Intelligence Analyst - Finance

Division: ATCO Energy Systems

Location: Edmonton, A

ATCO is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Finance team and play a key role in transforming complex data into meaningful insights. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operational Accounting, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of critical datasets, developing reporting solutions, and connecting information from multiple sources to support financial planning and decision-making.

In this role, you'll lead the development and maintenance of labour reporting and analysis tools, identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, and collaborate closely with Finance, Operations, and IT teams to deliver high-quality business intelligence solutions. You'll also have the opportunity to provide leadership by supervising a team of student employees responsible for timecard administration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the development and maintenance of the business intelligence labor costing dashboard including providing training on the use of the Labor Tool. This includes monthly data updates after the Oracle ledgers close as well as any design updates to meet the needs of the business.

  • Support the standard labor rate process through position rate calculation updates and working with HR and BPSS to ensure appropriate rates are in Oracle for the labor costing process. This includes maintaining the unallocated labor reports and supporting labor costing investigations

  • Support the information needs of the Broader Finance team in creating efficient reporting processes, developing new reports or data analysis views including to identifying opportunities to use business intelligence tools to improve efficiency, create consistent data sets for use across multiple teams and minimize manual repeated analysis

  • Automation/maintenance of monthly repeated accounting transactions to minimize workloads at month end 

  • Enhance and develop analytical tools that facilitate decision-making

  • Develop dashboard visualizations for support exception reporting and monitoring of financial results

 

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized educational institution
  • A professional designation (CPA, CBIP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or related certification) is an asset 
  • Experience supporting finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, or operational reporting functions is preferred
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple systems and sources. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Power Query and complex data analysis techniques
  • Advanced Power BI development experience including data modeling, DAX, visualization design, and performance optimization 
  • Advanced Power Automate skills to create scalable workflows to reduce manual work
  • Proven ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to deliver under tight deadlines, using proven problem solving and prioritization skills
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle Cloud , SAP or similar enterprise platforms
