Daily CARM-ARL Support
Respond to email and phone calls from clients, operations, sales and collectors asking for status of their refunds, drawbacks and other ongoing issues which CBSA may have contacted them on (fines, penalties, amending entries, detailed adjustment statement (DAS’s), voluntary entries, Business Number importer of record corrections (BN15)). Work with all parties to provide current information on the status of a refunds or drawbacks and contact CBSA to work out solutions to allow client to address unpaid DAS’s, coordinate refund of B2’s (post entry corrections) and duty Drawbacks when account is in credit balance.
Contact CBSA to arrange to reconcile account, move a B2 refunds, provide backup to payment application to account as well as DAS payment.
Work with the clients to increase their understanding of how CARM works and how to read their CARM statement.
Review status of all outstanding B2, GST, 189e ongoing disputes currently logged in Dispute Tracking System (DTS) to ensure payment is received from CBSA for duty and ensure notice has been done to client and collectors to ensure we clear GST outstanding in CODA – options – client takes on ITC or we must file 189e.
Month end process of payment to CBSA
Verify output of CARM-ARL Portal to our system and verify correctness.
Review B2’s available for deduction.
Respond to client queries on payable amounts.
Reconcile against known corrections done to ensure they are reflected in the portal, and we update our recap.
Prepare ePayment to CBSA including all supporting documentation.
DTS review
Review status of disputed items – provide info to Cash Apps to update DTS notes.
Review B2 report every Monday to assess accuracy of BN15 corrections.
Track status and query items remaining in arrears.
Other Duties
Participate in CBSA CARM ARL training. Review Brokerage operations processes.
Any other duties as assigned by your Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
High School Diploma and a three (3) year program specializing in accounting.
Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.
Advanced Excel skills.
Excellent written & communication skills in English and French.
Related experience in the International Logistics, Transportation or Customs Brokerage field would be an asset.
Knowledge of FTN operations, systems policies and procedures would be an asset.
Excellent inter-personal skills and solid ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task.
Ability to work under pressure, exercise good time management skills, detail oriented.
