We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Clinical Director, Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) to provide strategic and operational leadership for one of the largest and most comprehensive radiation medicine programs in North America. This is an exceptional opportunity to influence the future of radiation oncology services, foster innovation, and lead a highly specialized interdisciplinary team dedicated to delivering world-class patient care. Based on the structure and leadership expectations outlined in the Clinical Director posting template and informed by the RMP Director of Operations role, this position combines clinical leadership, strategic planning, operational excellence, quality improvement, and people leadership.

Position Summary

As a member of the Radiation Medicine Program Executive Team and Princess Margaret leadership team, the Clinical Director will provide energetic, collaborative, and visionary leadership for all clinical, operational, quality, human resource, educational, and patient care activities within the Radiation Medicine Program.

Working in partnership with the Head of the Radiation Medicine Program, Medical Directors, Professional Practice leaders, researchers, educators, and operational leaders, the Clinical Director will ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care while advancing innovation, research, education, and system transformation initiatives. The Clinical Director is accountable for strategic planning, operational performance, quality outcomes, resource stewardship, workforce engagement, and fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Clinical Leadership

• Provide strategic leadership for clinical operations across the Radiation Medicine Program.
• Develop and execute short- and long-term program strategies aligned with UHN and Princess Margaret priorities.
• Partner with physician leaders, operational leaders, and professional practice leaders to advance excellence in patient care, quality, research, education, and innovation.
• Champion integrated care delivery models and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Anticipate emerging healthcare trends, technological advances, and legislative requirements and position the program for future success.
• Lead long-range capital planning, radiation technology replacement strategies, infrastructure renewal, and space planning initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Accountable for operational and strategic oversight of the Princess Margaret Lodge, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and exceptional patient and family experiences.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure effective and efficient management of program operations, infrastructure, and resources.
• Oversee patient care delivery, capacity planning, workload management, and service optimization initiatives.
• Collaborate across UHN programs and departments to ensure coordinated, seamless care experiences.
• Establish performance goals and monitor operational outcomes to achieve strategic objectives.
• Lead organizational redesign and operational transformation initiatives as required.
• Lead procurement processes with the Radiation Medicine Program leadership and complex contract negotiations related to major equipment, technology platforms, service agreements, and strategic partnerships.

Financial and Resource Stewardship

• Provide oversight for annual operating and capital budgets.
• Lead resource planning for staffing, equipment, supplies, technology, and space requirements.
• Develop business cases and advocate for investments that support program growth and innovation.
• Ensure responsible stewardship of financial resources while maintaining quality, safety, and service excellence.
• Support procurement and strategic vendor partnerships for major equipment and service requirements.

People Leadership and Culture

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and psychologically safe workplace culture consistent with UHN leadership principles.
• Lead and develop leaders and interdisciplinary healthcare teams through mentorship, coaching, and succession planning.
• Support employee engagement, talent development, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
• Partner with People & Culture and labour relations stakeholders on workforce and employee relations matters.
• Promote recognition, professional development, and continuous learning opportunities.

Quality, Safety, and Innovation

• Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and accreditation initiatives within the program.
• Establish and monitor quality indicators and outcome measures aligned with UHN standards.
• Collaborate with quality committees and leadership teams to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provide oversight of innovation and implementation of new clinical, operational, and technological approaches that improve patient outcomes and experience.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.

Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong collaborative relationships with clinicians, researchers, learners, operational teams, vendor partners, patients, community partners, academic institutions, government agencies, and cancer system partners.
• Represent the Radiation Medicine Program internally and externally through influential leadership, advocacy, and strategic partnerships.
• Support business development, research collaboration, and system-level initiatives that advance cancer care provincially, nationally, and internationally.
• Lead business development initiatives, evaluates new service opportunities, identifies future service gaps and cultivates strategic partnerships that advance program growth, innovation, sustainability, and research excellence.

Education

• Master's degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Health Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• Registration in a regulated health profession preferred.
• Additional leadership or executive education considered an asset.

Experience

• Minimum eight (8) years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
• Minimum six (6) years of senior leadership experience in a complex healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading large interdisciplinary clinical programs and services.
• Experience in strategic planning, operational leadership, quality improvement, change management, and organizational transformation.
• Experience developing and managing operational and capital budgets.
• Comprehensive understanding of clinical quality, patient safety, performance improvement, and healthcare operations.
• Demonstrated success leading large-scale strategic initiatives, capital projects, organizational redesign efforts, and/or complex change management programs.
• Oncology and/or radiation medicine experience strongly preferred.
