Education Level: Grade 12 plus 3 years of concentrated study at a community college, or equivalent education through a recognized skilled trade apprenticeship program


Base Location: Pickering, ON


Shift: Days


Travel: 10%

JOB OVERVIEW


Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Construction Coordinator.


 


Reporting to the Manager, Contract Management Office, this position is responsible to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary construction activities.  Manage project budgets and cost controls ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, and collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to deliver project objectives efficiently.


 


 


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 



  • Coordinate and lead a multi-functional workforce across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical project activities.

  • Plan, schedule, and monitor day-to-day construction work, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to project timelines.

  • Supervise, mentor, and support staff while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

  • Manage field installation contracts, including contractor oversight, contract administration, and resolving site issues.

  • Oversee project budgets, cost controls, and provide regular updates on expenditures, variances, and schedule impacts.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, and contribute to continuous process improvements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to achieve project goals and resolve challenges.

  • Maintain accurate site records, manage facilities and services, and participate in contract closeout and quality audits.


 


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Completion of Grade 12 plus 3 years of concentrated study at a community college, or equivalent education through a recognized skilled trade apprenticeship program

  • A certification of Qualification 309A

  • In-Depth Technical knowledge of contracts, specifications, building codes, inspections, and construction principles related to nuclear generation facilities.

  • Strong understanding of electrical equipment and automatic control systems as they pertain to construction and project management.

  • Skilled in estimating electrical project costs, managing temporary power and outage (TMOD), and experienced in work protection and the CUSW collective agreement

  • Extensive experience in fiber optic installation, LAN applications, and related hardware.

  • 4-6 years of experience in constructions, modification, and maintenance of electrical generation stations, including supervising multi-union workforces.

  • Proven experience in project management, contract administration, and staff supervision to ensure compliance with plans, schedules, safety regulations, and cost forecasts.
