New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About the Role

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (Day shift only)

Position Reports To: Exploration Supervisor 

Duration: This position is anticipated to be a 12 month Temporary role, however it may be extended as per operational requirements.

Position Overview: The successful applicant will be tasked with supporting the exploration drilling program and team.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Handling and storing core boxes;


• Assisting with preparing sample shipments;


• Sawing and sampling core;


• Assisting with the QA/QC practices;


• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent background


• Physically fit


• Demonstrated ability of being a contributing team member and leader


• Organized and enthusiastic. 


• Previous experience collecting geotechnical data would be advantageous


• Experience with diamond drill core, operating skid steers, and driving underground would be an asset.


• Driver license is required

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

• Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen


• Provide proof of a minimum valid Class driver’s license


• Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada


• Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $55,000 to $60,000.
