You love plants and don’t mind getting your hands dirty. You notice the little things. And you take pride in maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces.

As a Crew Member – Property Care, you’ll help maintain and enhance primarily high-end residential properties, along with select commercial sites, through detailed horticultural care and professional garden services. This role is hands-on, outdoors, and ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, working with plants, and delivering consistent, high-quality results.

This is outdoor, detail-driven work — done alongside a high-performing team that values professionalism, precision, and growth.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Property Care Execution

  • Complete all work according to Hutten standards for aesthetics, function, and professionalism

  • Perform edging, spring cleanup, mulching, and seasonal garden preparation

  • Provide ongoing garden management including weeding, plant care, and soil management

  • Perform fall cleanup, turf care, and winterization

  • Conduct pruning, transplanting, fertilizing, and pest management

  • Install seasonal colour and container plantings

  • Assist with irrigation and lighting maintenance services

  • Read and interpret landscape designs and specifications

Quality & Professionalism

  • Complete property inspections and quality assessments

  • Communicate professionally with customers, delivering service according to “the Hutten Way”

  • Assist the Crew Leader with site consultations and collaboration as required

  • Successfully resolve warranty-related service work

Equipment & Site Care

  • Operate compact equipment, chainsaws, blowers, trimmers, pruners, horticultural tools, and hand equipment safely

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks, trailers, equipment, and job sites

  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on tools and equipment

What Success Looks Like

  • Properties maintained to a high horticultural standard

  • Work completed within estimated hours

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency

  • Positive client feedback and trust

  • Clean, organized equipment and job sites

Who This Role Is Perfect For

  • You value the Hutten philosophy and team culture

  • You enjoy working outdoors in hot, cold, and wet conditions

  • You don’t mind physically demanding work and getting your hands dirty

  • You have a genuine interest in plants and horticulture

  • You’re willing to grow and learn

  • You enjoy detailed, precise work

  • You’re comfortable using manual and power garden tools

  • You can read and understand landscape plans

  • You communicate professionally with clients

  • You have a valid driver’s license

  • A horticulture diploma or certificate is an asset

The Seasonality

Property Care operates throughout the growing season, typically from spring through late fall. During slower periods, there may be opportunities to contribute to other departments depending on workload and company needs.

Why Hutten & Co.?

You’ll work on award-winning land and shore properties throughout Tobermory, Lion’s Head, Wiarton, Port Elgin, Sauble Beach, Georgian Bluffs, Meaford, and Markdale — maintaining primarily high-end residential landscapes and select commercial sites in Ontario’s recreational hub.

  • Strong coaching and horticultural training

  • Open book management

  • Monthly team events — BBQs, family parties, breakfast updates, games, and seasonal celebrations — designed to celebrate hard work and bring the team together.

  • A high-performance, growth-focused culture

  • Real opportunity to advance within the Property Care department
