In this Saguenay-based position, you will cover cultural news in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region across all Radio-Canada platforms (radio, digital, and television) and play an increased role in the radio program Place publique between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. You will be responsible for covering, presenting, and commenting on current events and issues in accordance with the Corporation’s standards and policies. You will report to the Senior Manager, News and Programming, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.
The regular work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Work schedules may vary depending on production needs.
Please note that this is a contractual position of 37.5 hours per week for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities:
Monitor current events in the program’s coverage areas and develop and maintain relationships with various sources.
Participate in production meetings; propose story ideas and guests.
Research, gather, assess, and verify relevant information related to assigned topics.
Propose editorial angles and formats for contributions (scripts, clips, interviews, reports, etc.).
Select interviewees as needed; conduct interviews; on location, may direct filming; for radio, carry out recordings.
Review and listen to interviews; select appropriate excerpts; choose music and sound effects when required.
Prepare content in a style adapted to the medium and the program format (scripts, reports, interviews, etc.).
When required, prepare an editing plan and oversee editing; for radio, perform basic editing.
Write presentation briefs for the host (topic, guest, editorial approach, background notes).
Present and comment on stories on air; participate in on-air discussions led by the host.
Collaborate on news programming when required.
Drive a reporting vehicle when necessary.
Perform any other related duties required to carry out the above responsibilities.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Three (3) years of relevant experience
Skills:
Strong general knowledge
Solid understanding of current events
Proficiency in the working language: French
Mastery of media-specific communication techniques and interviewing skills
Ability to work early mornings
Valid driver’s licence
