The ROLE

Reporting to the Manager, the Day Treatment Child and Youth Worker works collaboratively with children, youth, families, teachers, educational support staff, and interdisciplinary team members to provide consistent, high-quality therapeutic interventions.

In partnership with the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB), ROCK's new OASIS Day Treatment Program will be based in Oakville, Ontario and will provide specialized therapeutic and educational support to students within a structured day treatment setting.

During the ten-month school year, you will provide therapeutic classroom and treatment support within the Day Treatment Program. During school closures, including summer months, March Break, and scheduled school holidays, you will support youth within ROCK's Live-In Treatment Program.

Hours of Work for this position: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. | 37.5 hours per week

In this role you will:

• Collaborate with teachers, educational support staff, caregivers, children and youth, supervisors, and interdisciplinary team members to develop coordinated treatment plans with measurable goals.


• Work within the therapeutic classroom to support academic engagement, emotional regulation, and social skill development.


• Implement individualized treatment plans, behaviour support plans, and safety plans.


• Facilitate therapeutic, psychoeducational, and social-emotional learning groups.


• Provide relationship-based interventions using evidence-informed practices.


• Respond effectively to crisis situations through risk assessment, de-escalation, and safety planning.


• Participate in school meetings, conferences, treatment reviews, and transition planning.


• Support successful transitions into, through, and out of Day Treatment services.


• During school closures, provide direct care, supervision, and therapeutic programming within the Live-In Treatment Program.


• Support the development of life skills, recreation, community integration, and daily living skills within Live-In Treatment.


• Act as an advocate and liaison with families, schools, community agencies, and service providers.


• Complete administrative tasks and clinical documentation in a timely and accurate manner.


• Assist with the preparation of statistics, outcome measures, and program reports.


• Operationalize client safety by adhering to established policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  

Education

• Graduate of a recognized Child and Youth Care, Child and Youth Work, or related program.


• A bachelor's degree in a related field is considered an asset.
  
  
  

Experience

• Minimum of five years of experience working with children and youth in mental health, day treatment, therapeutic classroom, school-based, or residential treatment settings.


• Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed practice, and crisis intervention.


• Experience facilitating therapeutic and psychoeducational groups.


• Experience implementing treatment, behaviour support, and safety plans is an asset.
