Summary






Reporting jointly to the Executive Director Executive Director, Clinical and Operations, Seniors Care, (Providence Health Care) and to the Executive Director, Burnaby Hospital & Health Services (Fraser Health Authority), the Director of Clinical Operations plays a key leadership role in an interdisciplinary team focused on providing quality care to residents and their families at Chenchenstway and other PHC and FHA long term care sites. The Director is responsible for ensuring smooth operations and ensuring standardized application of best practices and organizational policies at PHC and FHA sites. Guided by a unified vision for the resident experience, the role supports an environment of comfort, empowerment and respect that recognizes each person’s individuality and what matters most to them. Care delivery is focused on engaging, meaningful experiences and interactions that support the whole person, body, mind and spirit.

What You Bring






Education
Master’s degree in a relevant health care profession plus ten (10) years recent, related experience including five (5) years’ recent experience at the middle management level in a medium to large health care organization or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Your Day to Day:

  • Works effectively with Senior Leadership at the partner organizations to plan and provide effective and efficient care that supports the achievement of operational and strategic objectives while aligning with the shared values of the partner organizations.
  • Provides clinical and operational leadership to interdisciplinary teams, ensuring coordinated and integrated resident‑ and family‑centered care.
  • Maintains strong communication channels with senior leadership to support a successful, collaborative partnership that benefits residents and families.
  • Oversees staffing models, resource allocation, and operating/capital budgets to ensure adequate support for care teams and compliance with long‑term care standards.
  • Reviews budgets for support and contracted services, establishes performance criteria, and leads the management team in implementing negotiated action plans.
  • Leads recruitment and retention strategies, fosters a learning culture, and establishes orientation, training, and development programs to support best clinical practices.
  • Works with Professional Practice and interdisciplinary leaders to ensure clinical standards, guidelines, and systems are consistently applied and aligned with partner organizations.
  • Ensures Emergency Preparedness and Infection Prevention & Control standards are met through effective communication, consistent policies, and cross‑team collaboration.
  • Leads site‑level change initiatives, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders and preparing teams for operational and service‑delivery impacts.
  • Works with leaders across departments to support problem‑solving, information flow, and coordination between Chenchenstway teams and partner‑provided operational services.
  • Contributes to collective bargaining preparation, essential services planning, strike contingency planning, grievance processes, and 24‑hour managerial on‑call duties.
  • Initiates and facilitates proposals for service delivery improvements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational realities.
