Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for investment expense contracting, support investment teams in goods and services contracting such as:
external managers
advisors
custodians
professional services
other ancillary services
Advise on and/or lead the full contracting lifecycle for investment expense procurements, including planning, sourcing, negotiation, risk assessment, execution, and amendments.
Provide expert guidance to Investment teams and internal partners on contracting strategy, commercial terms, and risk mitigation.
Ensure contracts align with internal policies, governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and applicable trade agreement obligations.
Lead end-to-end business-as-usual procurement activities for investment expenses, ensuring timely, high-quality, and compliant execution.
Support and lead contract negotiations as required.
Provide escalation support on sensitive supplier matters and high-risk engagements.
Deliver ad hoc procurement initiatives and non-investment procurement projects in response to evolving organizational priorities.
Lead the CLM system replacement initiative, including:
business requirements gathering
stakeholder engagement
implementation oversight
testing
change management
Act as the primary Procurement business lead, partnering with Technology, Finance, Legal, and end users to ensure the solution meets enterprise needs.
Drive process standardization and continuous improvement enabled by the new system.
Ensure procurement and contracting practices appropriately manage financial, operational, legal, reputational, and regulatory risk.
Build trusted relationships with Investment leaders and senior stakeholders across the organization.
Contribute to the ongoing evolution of procurement policies, templates, controls, and guidance related to expense procurements.
Provide support, coaching, and technical guidance to contract managers and business users who own contracts and third-party provider risks.
Build procurement capability and contracting literacy across Investment teams.
Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
A strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration
University degree in Business or a related field
8+ years of experience promoting procurement best practices and compliance activities
Significant senior-level experience in procurement and complex contracting, ideally within investment management, financial services, or another highly regulated environment
Deep expertise in:
contract negotiation
commercial risk management
supplier engagement
Experience leading large-scale system or process transformation initiatives is strongly preferred
Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management in procurement
Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior leaders
Experience supporting investment expense procurements, such as:
public markets
private markets
external managers
investment operations
Knowledge of trade agreements and public-sector or quasi-public procurement obligations is an asset
