Role


Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Water and Circular Economy, the Executive Director provides leadership to the Water Availability and Partnerships branch including how Alberta’s water is managed, shared, conserved and stewarded.


 


The Executive Director leads the development of policies for surface water and groundwater availability, allocation and efficient use as well as wetlands.  This role ensures effective environmental education and outreach occurs through the Bow Habitat Station, the department Contact Centre as well as school and community programs.  As the Executive Director you will ensure the coordination of provincial partnerships , water well driller licensing and the Working Well program.


 


Integral to this work is your strong relationship and collaboration skills as you will be working with a variety of internal teams, cross-governmental partners, other governments, ministries, and key industry stakeholders and associations to ensure policies and programs to support water availability and partnerships.


 


 


Qualifications


As the successful candidate your background includes extensive related senior management experience in a large organization with a depth of experience in natural resource management  or public administration.  You possess demonstrated success in formulating new policies, regulations and programs, legislative review, and managing complex issues. You are known for your critical thinking skills, ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups to achieve innovative outcomes. Key strengths include the ability to articulate a strong vision and build an organizational culture embracing strong relationships with stakeholders, business acumen and solution focused. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.  


 


 


Salary


$5,896.65 - $7,749.28 bi-weekly ($153,902.57 - $202,256.21 annually)
