The Fisheries Deck Hand supports the captain in the safe operation of the vessel and operate it and crew it according to both company and legal guidelines.
Position Duties:
Performs any combination of following duties aboard the boat:
Sweeps and washes decks using broom, brushes, mops
Lowers and man’s lifeboat in case of emergencies.
Stands steering watches or lookout watches while underway.
Loads or unloads material from the boat
Splices and repairs cables and ropes, using hand tools.
Examines cables that holds vessels in tow and tightens cables to ensure vessels are snug.
Sorting and grading fish
As a crew member; Health and Safety is a priority.
You must maintain all on-board equipment, including machinery, engines and safety equipment with regular inspection.
Working Conditions:
Employees will respect each other’s time, space, and need for concentration.
Socializing and personal interruptions must not impede workflow.
Employees are working in sensitive and confidential circumstances and are expected to maintain strict workplace confidence at work and out of work.

Employees are encouraged to recommend ideas for the improvement of their department and job that are consistent with the department’s work and standards.
Work issues and problems must be brought to the attention of the employee’s supervisor in writing so the concern may be addressed within the structure of the Human Resources Manual under the captain’s discretion.
Employees may be asked from time to time to cover other areas of accountability and/or departments to support the organization.
All employees will ensure a safe working environment that is drug and alcohol free.
