Key Accountabilities


























Job Title



Important Tasks / Activities / Outcomes



Data Management & Analysis



·        Process and analyse geological data using statistical and machine learning techniques.


·        Develop and maintain databases to store and manage geological data.



GIS and Spatial Analysis



·        Utilize GIS software to create maps and visualize geological data.


·        Perform spatial analysis to identify trends and patterns in geological data.



Software Development



·        Design and implement software tools to support various aspects of the company’s operations.


·        Collaborate with IT and technical teams to ensure software solutions align with business objectives.



Collaboration & Reporting



·        Work closely with geologists, engineers and other stakeholders to integrate data findings and software solutions.


·        Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.

Required



Education



·        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Data Science, Computing Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.



Experience



·        3-5 years of experience in geology, geological data science, or geophysics, with demonstrated expertise in handling large geological datasets.



Designations & Certifications



·        GIT, P.Geo or equivalent.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



·        Familiarity with mining software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan).


·        Strong foundation in geology, including mineralogy and structural geology.


·        Proficiency in GIS (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial analysis.


·        Expertise in data science, including statistical analysis and machine learning.


·        Skilled in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL, with experience in developing data-driven tools.


·        Familiarity with mining and exploration software like Leapfrog or Vulcan.


·        Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


·       Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.



Working Conditions


Fieldwork



  • Exposure to harsh weather, extreme temperatures, and challenging terrain, which can cause discomfort and physical strain.

  • Potential hazards include wildlife, difficult topography, and adverse weather, varying by project and season.

  • Geological core logging requires lifting up to 60 lbs repeatedly and periods of intense focus.


 Office Work



  • Controlled environment with occasional pressure, particularly during deadlines.

  • Minimal hazards, but discomfort can arise from prolonged computer use.


Overall



  • A strong commitment to safety is required, with adherence to protocols and PPE in the field.

  • Exposure to hazards varies based on project, location, and season, requiring adaptability.

  • Clear communication is essential for safety and maintaining a supportive work environment
