Clifton is currently searching for a permanent Geomatics Technologist to join our Regina office. As a Geomatics Technologist you will be a valued member of Clifton’s Civil Engineering practice. In this field-based role, you will conduct construction surveying activities at various project sites around Saskatchewan. You will have a strong background in geomatics technology and surveying techniques, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting construction and topographic surveys using RTK and Optical survey instruments to collect accurate field data.
- Recording and maintaining measurements, records, field notes, and other data obtained during field survey activities.
- Processing and interpreting survey data using appropriate control files and coordinate systems, while applying strong survey knowledge to ensure quality control throughout the course of the project.
- Performing calculations and preparing survey reports, drawings, and other project deliverables, as required.
- Supporting project managers by supervising and coordinating field survey activities, determining project requirements, and survey methodology while ensuring adherence to project requirements and best practices.
- Maintaining and calibrating surveying equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Travelling to remote job sites, as required, sometimes staying in camp-based accommodations for extended periods.
- Providing technical support and guidance to junior surveying staff, as needed.
- Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working on construction sites.
- Adapting Clifton’s Quality Management System into project delivery.
- Operating a Nuclear Densometer for compaction testing on specified projects that would require a Hybrid Surveyor. Training will be provided, if required, to obtain certification.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant field experience in construction and civil surveying or as a Survey Crew Chief; Underground survey experience would be an asset.
- Experience in high precision structural surveys (piling, pile caps, anchor bolts)
- Able to calculate survey lay-out from Issued for Construction drawings.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D considered an asset.
- Must have (and maintain) a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and provide a clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Willing to perform field work and have a flexible schedule to meet project needs. Travel is required for this position, including to remote areas, where working overtime, on weekends, and staying in camp-based accommodations may be required.
- Ability to work independently on site, outside and in remote locations for extended periods of time, tolerating variable weather conditions.
- Strong organizational skills, including effective management of multiple and conflicting priorities with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Provide reliable, value-added service to our clients with continual improvement.
- Contribute to a positive work environment, conducting oneself in a professional and ethical manner.
- Comfortable driving large trucks and ATVs through rough terrain.
