We’re looking for a Graduate Field Technician to join our Contamination Assessment and Remediation (CAR) team, based in our Mississauga office. You will support multidisciplinary teams delivering environmental site assessments, brownfield redevelopment, remediation, soil and groundwater management, and long-term monitoring services for public and private sector clients across Ontario.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: 

• •    Working in cooperation with a multi-disciplinary project team to complete projects incorporating contaminated sites investigation and remediation and Geotech field programs.
  •    Organizing field programs including coordination with chemists and laboratory vendors to order sample bottles and jars, and coordination with field equipment managers and equipment vendors to arrange for field equipment
  •    Assisting with field work, including environmental monitoring, (soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, etc.), coordination and review of utility locates and utility drawings, drilling oversight, surveying, and remediation contractor oversight, etc.
  •    Recording field related notes using GHD digital data collection tools (e.g. field ipads).
  •    During office work, assisting with data compilation, analysis, evaluation and reporting under the supervision of a project manager
  •    Communicate and liaison with vendors and contractors in field.
   
• What you will bring to the Team:
  
  •    Recent college Diploma in an Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician program or other relevant field
  •    This position will require regular travel to project sites throughout the Mississauga, Peterborough and broader southern Ontario areas, with occasional travel to northern Ontario and other provinces for fieldwork. It is anticipated that the role will involve up to 75% fieldwork and 25% office work. Certain field programs may require overnight travel or multiple days to complete assigned tasks. Training, safety equipment, and mentorship will be provided
  •    Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work collaboratively with others, stay organized, and adapt to changing project priorities
  •    Detail orientated, flexible, team player, and willing and able to do a wide variety of tasks.
  •    Positive attitude, safety-mindedness, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)
  •    Strong organizational skills, ability to manage a variety of tasks and projects, and willingness to meet challenging deadlines
  •    Valid Class G Ontario driver’s licence; a motor vehicle record check will be completed before hire. Regular access to a vehicle is required to travel to project sites. Eligible business travel is reimbursed in accordance with GHD policy. Reasonable accommodation will be considered.
  •    Strong Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
  Assets, not requirements
  •    0-2 years of relevant experience. Field experience gained through co-op terms, internships, summer employment, academic projects, volunteer activities, or related work environments is considered an asset but is not required.
  •    Valid First Aid/AED Training certification considered an asset.
  •    Eligibility to work within the USA
   

The salary for this position is $26/h. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and adhere to all relevant pay transparency legislation.
