Job Description - Heavy Duty Mechanic Certified

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Chetwynd Forest Industries is currently recruiting for a Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic.


You'll Do:



  • Perform a variety of tasks related to the safe and efficient application of the technical skills and knowledge of a Heavy Duty Mechanic

  • Duties involve the repair and maintenance of industrial equipment such as Log loaders, Wheel Loaders, Forklifts, and other mobile equipment used in the manufacture of lumber.

  • Continually ensuring the quality and standards of service to safety and production are maintained.


You have:



  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson mechanic certification

  • Ability to read manuals and schematics

  • Proven working knowledge of Hydraulics and electrical systems

  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision

  • Organizational and planning skills

  • Flexible schedule for day, evening and weekend shifts

  • Experience working in a fleet shop

  • Cummins and Cat engine experience


Compensation Package:



  • The hourly pay rate for this position may vary depending on experience and education.

  • Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays.

The District of Chetwynd is located in the foothills of the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. It is British Columbia’s entrance to the mighty Peace River Country. It is located at the junction of Highways 97 and 29 and the CN Rail mainline. Chetwynd is the natural transportation hub of the Peace River area. Chetwynd has a population of about 3,100 with a trading area of about 7,000 people. When not hard at work, the people of Chetwynd enjoy an excellent recreation complex with a wave pool, team-sized hot tub, sauna, six-sheet curling rink, ice arena, and library.
