Duties & Responsibilities

Housekeepers will be placed in a Long-Term Care home, hospital or in the community. The specific responsibilities and duties vary slightly between homes, as well as from shift to shift. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Daily cleaning, disinfecting, odor removal, and garbage removal on assigned unit


• Units include; washrooms, resident rooms, offices, common areas, utility rooms, nurses stations, medication rooms, etc.


• Report safety hazards or problems to Management or IPAC.

Required Skills

• Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including; extended standing, bending, and lifting using proper technique.


• Excellent knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting agents.


• Keen attention to detail.


• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.


• Strong communication skills.


• Time management skills


• Ability to adapt to change and remain flexible.


• Excellent attendance and punctuality.


• Maintain a high level of professionalism, privacy and confidentiality.


• Ability to comply with standard policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).


• 1 year cleaning experience (preferred).


• Must be at least 18 years of age.


• Housekeeping in a health care setting is considered an asset.


• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check including the Vulnerable Sector Search.


• Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (preferred).


• A valid driver’s license, access to own vehicle and possessing own car insurance are considered an asset

Salary: $17.95/hr
