GENERAL:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Human Resources function at our Waterloo facility. Reporting to the HR Director, this role serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, providing expertise in employee relations, health and safety, recruitment, training and development, performance management, and legislative compliance.
The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture, driving safety initiatives and employee engagement, supporting business objectives, and ensuring alignment with JD Sweid Foods' values and strategic goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment & Onboarding
Support workforce planning to meet operational and organizational needs.
Lead full-cycle recruitment for salaried and key positions while providing direction and support to the HR Coordinator in recruiting hourly production roles.
Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs to support successful employee integration and engagement.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations, performance management, attendance management, employee leaves, accommodations, and workplace issues while ensuring consistent application of policies and expectations.
Conduct investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action processes as required.
Foster a positive workplace culture through employee engagement and effective communication.
Health & Safety
Champion a strong safety culture through the implementation and continuous improvement of Health & Safety programs.
Chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Manage WSIB claims, return-to-work programs, and workplace accommodations.
HR Operations & Compliance
Ensure compliance with employment, human rights, and health & safety legislation.
Maintain and enhance HR policies, procedures, systems, and employee records.
Coordinate and support training programs, including onboarding, safety, leadership, and professional development initiatives.
Initiate and lead HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives that support employee experience, operational effectiveness, and business objectives.
Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures while balancing operational and employee needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Strong background in employee relations, recruitment, health and safety, training and development, performance management, and employment legislation.
Manufacturing experience is required; food manufacturing experience is preferred.
CHRP designation (or working toward completion) is considered an asset.
Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, and support management teams.
Strong investigative, conflict resolution, and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems.
Working Environment:
Full-time, in-office position
