Human Resources Business Partner

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will support management and employees within your assigned client group, working in partnership with leaders to address a range of human resources related matters. You goal will be to contribute to the successful delivery of people strategies and provide guidance on day-to-day HR activities. Your success will also be measured by your ability to build strong relationships, provide practical HR support, and contribute to talent, culture and people initiatives that enable business performance at Irving Oil.

Your Responsibilities: 

• Partner with people leaders to support the implementation of people strategies that support business goals, workforce plans, and organizational performance
• Provide guidance on core HR cycles including performance management, compensation, career development, succession planning, and workforce planning
• Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on team effectiveness, leadership capability, employee relations, and managing complex people issues
• Support employee engagement initiatives by analyzing insights, identifying trends, and partnering with leaders to implement targeted action plans
• Participate in HR projects and change initiatives and change efforts, helping coordinate activities and support effective rollout and adoption
• Support and facilitate talent and succession discussions, supporting strong internal pipelines and proactive development planning
• Provide input on talent risks, operational people matters, and compliance considerations, using data and insights to inform decisions
• Collaborate closely with HR Centers of Expertise and Senior HR leaders to deliver enterprise programs and consistently apply HR standards and practices

Your Skills: 

• Solid business and financial acumen with the ability to connect HR solutions to organizational outcomes
• Working knowledge of employee relations, employment legislation, and performance management practices
• Effective coaching, consulting, and influencing skills to support leaders through ambiguity and change
• Ability to contribute to change management initiatives and support leaders through transitions
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace

Your Experience:

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is required; a professional HR designation (e.g., CPHR) is considered an asset
• Approximately 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience, including experience supporting leaders on employee relations and HR processes
• Experience in a complex or operational environment and familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Workday would be considered an asset
