Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Instructor, Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) to join the School of Community Studies. If you are an experienced early childhood professional who is committed to student success, inclusive education, and preparing future educators for meaningful careers, we invite you to become part of our collaborative learning community.
Reporting to the Program Chair, the Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction within the Early Childhood Education and Development program while creating an engaging, inclusive, and learner-centered educational experience. You will teach across a variety of learning environments, including face-to-face, online, blended, and workplace settings, using innovative instructional strategies that support student success.
In addition to teaching, you will contribute to curriculum development, assess student learning, provide academic guidance, and collaborate with colleagues and community partners to ensure the program remains responsive to evolving best practices in early learning and childcare.
What You'll Be Doing:
Deliver Engaging and High-Quality Instruction: Create dynamic learning experiences that prepare students for professional practice in the early childhood sector. This includes planning and delivering courses, developing lesson plans, selecting effective instructional strategies, and assessing student learning through ongoing evaluation and timely feedback. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of the program by developing and updating curriculum, learning resources, guides, and assessment tools while maintaining accurate academic records.
Support Student Success: Foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. You will monitor academic progress, provide guidance on attendance, conduct, and performance, implement approved accommodations, and connect students with college resources when additional support is needed. You will also participate in student-focused initiatives such as orientations, scholarship and bursary selection, and graduation celebrations.
Build Strong Community and Industry Partnerships: Engage with employers, community organizations, government partners, and industry stakeholders to strengthen relationships that support student learning and program excellence. You will stay informed of emerging trends and best practices in early childhood education, contribute to advisory committees, support articulation and transfer initiatives, participate in recruitment activities, and represent the College within the community.
