Are YOU our next Inventory Coordinator?
The Inventory Coordinator is an independent contributor responsible for ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant management of materials throughout the full inventory lifecycle. This role supports laboratory and LHSC operations by maintaining optimal stock levels, coordinating ordering and receiving activities, and ensuring smooth distribution of supplies across sites. The Inventory Coordinator works closely with procurement, warehousing, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, maintain data accuracy, and uphold quality and safety standards.
Status: Contract Full-Time
Hours of Work: Mon-Fri, day shift
Location: Downtown Kelowna with travel to LHSC sites as required
Workstyle: 100% onsite

How YOU will make a difference:
Inventory Management
• Maintain and monitor appropriate inventory levels to support uninterrupted laboratory and LHSC operations.
• Perform routine and ad-hoc inventory counts; reconcile variances and investigate discrepancies.
• Record purchases, update inventory databases, and ensure data accuracy and traceability.
• Identify opportunities to reduce material costs by analyzing consumption patterns, waste, and product usage.
Ordering & Procurement Coordination
• Prepare and submit purchase orders; track order status and proactively resolve delays or issues.
• Interface with the Oracle ordering platform and collaborate with the procurement department to ensure timely replenishment.
• Follow up on service concerns, supplier issues, and non-conformances; escalate incidents when necessary.
Receiving & Distribution
• Receive incoming material orders and verify that all goods meet quality and condition requirements.
• Unpack, stock, and organize inventory in designated storage areas to support efficient retrieval and distribution.
• Coordinate with the warehousing team to ensure timely fulfillment and delivery of supplies to LHSCs and other internal clients.
• Manage the distribution of materials to end users while tracking usage and ensuring accountability.
Compliance, Safety & Operations Support
• Ensure all inventory activities comply with standard operating procedures, quality regulations, and safety requirements.
• Use personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, lab coats) in accordance with EHS procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment in all storage and receiving areas.
• Safeguard the confidentiality of patient information and adhere to organizational privacy standards.
What YOU bring to the role:
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in an inventory management/related field or equivalent experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
• Science/medical background is an asset
• Medical Terminology course is an asset
• Working knowledge of WHMIS
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal
• Valid driver’s license and abstract and access to reliable vehicle
Working Conditions
- Normal office environment
- Medical laboratory environment
- Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs (pounds)
- Repetitive movements
- Bending, turning and kneeling as well as walking required
- Able to endure extended period of time in walk-in fridge and freezers
- Perform duties in stationary, standing and sitting positions
- Exposure to noise, chemicals, solvents and bio-hazardous materials
Pay rate: $21.50 to $24.00 per hour
The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
