About the Role

As a Junior Authenticator on the Buying team, you will support the authentication and evaluation of luxury consignment items while developing your expertise in the luxury resale market. This role will be fully on-site at our Yorkville location.

This role is ideal for a self-starter with a strong foundation in fashion and a genuine interest in expanding their knowledge of the luxury space.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examining luxury items including but not limited to branded bags, ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories, to ensure all items meet company authenticity and quality standards.


• Support with examining materials, craftsmanship, hardware, stitching, serial numbers, date codes, labels, and other brand-specific details to evaluate authenticity and condition.


• Leverage third party authentication tools and technology to identify key brand markers, including holograms, date codes, authenticity cards, hallmarks, and designer signatures.


• Conduct research and identify luxury brands, collections, seasonal releases, and product-specific characteristics across multiple categories.


• Support the internal authentication resources, reference materials, and product knowledge documentation.


• Stay up to date on evolving counterfeit techniques, brand updates, and market trends through ongoing training and research.


• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve processes, accuracy, and operational efficiency.


• Participate in hands-on training and continuous learning programs to develop expertise in luxury authentication.


• Maintain accurate records and documentation for authenticated items and review outcomes.

Qualifications

• Passionate about luxury fashion, craftsmanship, and the growing resale industry.


• Knowledgeable about luxury brands and product categories, with the ability to recognize key authenticity markers and identify potential replicas or counterfeits.


• Experienced in luxury resale, authentication, consignment, retail, or a related field through professional, academic, or independent experience.


• Hands-on experience in the second-hand luxury goods market is considered an asset.


• Naturally detail-oriented with strong observational, analytical, and investigative skills.


• Curious and eager to continuously learn about brands, collections, materials, construction techniques, and evolving counterfeit methods.


• Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.


• Strong organizational and documentation skills with a commitment to accuracy and consistency.


• Enthusiastic about protecting consumers and brands through trusted authentication practices.
