Métis Child, Family & Community Services (MCFCS) Agency is a mandated child and family services agency with the responsibility to administer and manage culturally appropriate community-based child protection and support services for Métis and Inuit people in Manitoba.  We have launched and expanded on some very important initiatives that have benefited those who need assistance to be able to move forward in their lives in a better, healthier way. KINSHIP CARE WORKER


In-Scope, Full-Time 12-Month Term Position


 


Competition #:                      MCFCS-KCW-2026.009


Hours of Work:                      7.25 hours per day (evenings and weekends may be required occasionally)


Classification and Salary:     SP3, $31.83-$42.02/ SP4, $35.11-$49.89


Location:                                Winnipeg MB


 


The Kinship Care Worker is responsible to develop, support and supervise kinship care resources for families and children. The incumbent will provide a range of services that deliver unique alternative care options, individual and group programming and other support as required to children and families, participate in ongoing planning for children; and participate in ongoing evaluation of program model and service delivery model. It is the responsibility of every position to provide, where requested culturally relevant service or assist with access to such service.


 


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor of Social Work degree from an accredited university plus two years related experience working directly with foster and/or kinship families or

  • Master of Social Work degree from an accredited university plus two years related experience working directly with foster and/or kinship families or

  • Related social services degree from an accredited university, plus five years of foster and/or kinship family experience

  • Direct child welfare or front-line experience would be preferred.


 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Demonstrated understanding of Métis culture and communities

  • Good understanding of issues relating to the placement of children in alternate placement contexts and kinship placements

  • Strong mediation and conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to be flexible with hours of work

  • Skills to deliver programs and support services to facilitate reunification

  • Ability to develop, support and license kinship care placement resources for children

  • Demonstrated ability to implement an inclusive model of care with a focus on the children, youth and their families

  • SAFE Home Study certification an asset

  • Experience with behavioural plans

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated research skills and communication skills

  • Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information


 


 Prior to commencing employment, the successful applicant will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, Prior Contact Check and a Driver’s Abstract upon hire at their own expense.  A valid Manitoba driver’s license and the use of a personal vehicle are requisites as travel within and outside the city are required.
