Labourer (Onsite- Rainy River, ON)

Thyssen Mining is seeking safety-focused and hardworking General Construction Labourers to support our underground mining and construction operations in Saskatchewan. We are looking for dependable individuals who are comfortable performing physically demanding work in an underground environment and working as part of a construction crew.

Position Summary

The General Construction Labourer supports underground construction and mining activities by assisting skilled tradespeople and mining crews with material handling, site preparation, installation work, housekeeping, and other general labour duties. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a physically demanding underground environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist construction and mining crews with general underground labour activities.


• Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.


• Assist with the installation and assembly of construction materials and components.


• Support concrete work, including site preparation, forming, pouring, and cleanup.


• Assist with basic carpentry, piping, ventilation, and other underground construction activities as required.


• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.


• Maintain clean and organized work areas and remove debris and waste materials.


• Assist skilled tradespeople and equipment operators as directed.


• Complete workplace inspections and identify and report potential hazards.


• Follow all company, client, and site-specific safety procedures.


• Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and crew meetings.


• Perform other general labour and construction duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous experience in construction, mining, industrial, or general labour is preferred.


• Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.


• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and working on uneven surfaces.


• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.


• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.


• Willingness and ability to work in an underground mining environment.


• Valid driver's licence is preferred.


• Underground mining certifications or Common Core training are considered an asset.

Preferred

• Previous underground mining or mine construction experience.


• Experience with concrete, carpentry, piping, mechanical installation, or civil construction.


• Experience working in remote camp mining operations.


• Familiarity with underground tools, equipment, and safe work practices.


• Mechanical aptitude and experience working around heavy equipment.
