Maintenance Supervisor

West Fraser is a diversified wood products company with over 50 facilities in Canada, USA, the United Kingdom, and Europe.   

Our Grande Prairie OSB division is recruiting for a Maintenance Supervisor.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing safety leadership, technical direction and supervision of the Mechanical Maintenance Team.

You'll Do:

• Working with Team Members - ensure a safe work environment by coaching safe work practices, participating in safety observations & incident reviews, training & development and enforcing safety expectations.


• Build your team with relationships based upon trust, caring and integrity and assist with career development of Team Members.


• Work collaboratively with operations, project development & planning, quality and procurement Teams to effectively maintain mill equipment.


• Participate in full-cycle process of identifying, planning, installing and reviewing capital projects and equipment maintenance.


• Work with reliability & maintenance planning to coordinate preventative & predictive maintenance programs to achieve uptime targets.


• Responding to changing priorities and operating conditions to meet business needs

You Have:

• Certified Millwright with 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preference given to those with forest product experience


• Steadfast commitment to safety and ability to effectively coach / reinforce safety expectations


• Innovative leadership and mentorship skills


• Strong mechanical aptitude with problem solving, planning, and organizational skills


• Experience with mobile equipment maintenance would be a strong asset


• Strong communication skills (written / verbal) and proficient computer skills

Compensation Package:

• Salary range for this position may vary depending on experience and education.

Workplace Location:

• This position will be located at our West Fraser Grande Prairie, Alberta OSB facility


• The Maintenance Supervisor must be capable of working in an OSB manufacturing environment that includes exposure to noise, temperature variances, heights, stairways and grated elevated walkways, confined spaces, odors and the physical ability to travel through our industrial facility and lift / carry reasonable weights.


• Although the work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, flexibility is required to respond to immediate business needs and events to support a 24/7/365 manufacturing facility.
