Job Description - Manufacturing Engineering Technician

As a comprehensive manufacturer of engineered composite products, Carfair Composites supplies quality fiberglass components to the original equipment manufacturers operating in agriculture, automotive, construction, transportation, commercial, food processing, and medical industries.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will support all manufacturing engineering activities related to the requirements of the assigned Carfair site, as well as support manufacturing engineering projects to improve production indices, support HSE initiatives, quality improvement, and Lean initiatives.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

·         Provides technical support to Production by troubleshooting processes and equipment issues.

·         Supports projects and activities to improve production indices, HSE initiatives, product quality and service

·         Works with Lean resources, maintenance, production and quality to achieve targets.

·         Work with suppliers on equipment and quality issues.

·         Works effectively as a team member to ensure goals are achieved and any remedial action is actively pursued.

·         Participates in lean manufacturing initiatives as they relate to site as assigned (5S, value stream mapping, set-up reduction etc.)

·         Promotes an environment of continuous improvement and teamwork.

·         Remain current with relevant industry and production technologies in order to advance the manufacturing processes within the facility.

·         Bi-directional liaison between Engineering and production shop floor.

·         Communicates customer change notices to the shop floor and provides feedback on discrepancies

·         Ability to perform minor fixture adjustments, layup of parts for FAI, trimming

·         Ability to perform measurements utilizing hand measuring tools, (calipers, micrometers)

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·         High school diploma, preferred w/ eligibility for CET or P. Eng designation

·         1 to 2 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment.

·         3D modeling experience would be an asset

·         Should have good people skills.

·         Ability to multitask

·         Experienced with Microsoft office suit

·         Knowledge of measurement tools
