Job Description - NOC 14200 - Accounting and related clerks

Job Summary


Provide accurate financial record -keeping and support accounting operations for departments or clients. Perform routine accounting tasks including transaction entry, reconciliations, and preparation of supporting documentation.

Main Duties


  • Record daily financial transactions including accounts payable and accounts receivable entries.
  • Prepare and process invoices, expense claims, purchase orders, and payment records.
  • Reconcile bank statements, ledgers, and sub -ledgers to ensure accuracy of accounts.
  • Assist with month -end and year -end closing activities and prepare supporting schedules.
  • Maintain organized financial files, documentation, and electronic records for audits and reporting.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding account balances, billing, and payment status.


Requirements


  • Secondary school diploma; post -secondary certificate or coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field preferred.
  • One to two years of related accounting or clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles, general ledger functions, and basic accounting practices.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, numeracy skills, and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and clients.

  • Accuracy in data entry and numerical calculations.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (formulas and data analysis).
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem -solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Strong attention to detail and meticulous record -keeping.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with colleagues and external contacts.
