Pharmacist - Clinical Pharmacy

About the Opportunity

Under the general management of the Director of Pharmacy and the Team Leader of the Drug Evaluation Unit (DEU), the drug evaluation pharmacist develops strategies to support evidence-informed drug policy decisions and educational initiatives.

DEU pharmacists prepare critically appraised drug evaluation reports and economic analyses to support Atlantic Provincial Drug Plan Formulary decisions, present major findings to expert advisory committees, consult with medical specialists and administrators on issues relating to the reports and aide in developing educational and policy related material to support formulary decisions. The DEU co-ordinates functions for the Atlantic Common Drug Review process, working closely with Atlantic Provincial Drug Plans.  The DEU pharmacists also provide support to the Drug Evaluation Alliance of Nova Scotia (DEANS) to aide in the development of educational materials such as those used in the Dalhousie University, Continuing Professional Development, and Academic Detailing Program.  Some travel may be required for educational presentations.

About You

  We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  
  
  
  
  • Graduate of a recognized School of Pharmacy
  
  
  • Eligible for the registration with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator required
  
  
  • Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program and/or equivalent related direct patient care experience (minimum 2 years) in a hospital setting preferred
  
  
  • (Basic Life Support) required
  
  
  • Experience in drug information, literature searching, and critical appraisal of scientific literature required
  
  
  • Strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics and can make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs required
  
  
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently to meet report completion deadlines required
  
  
  • Strong teaching ability/experience required
  
  
  • Proven effective oral and written communication skills required
  
  
  • Demonstrated interest in professional development and lifelong learning required
  
  
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

• Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly


• Approximately 12 months

Compensation and Benefits

$49.42 - $63.29 hourly
