Description

As a Project Engineer, AOPS and Ship Repair, you’ll play a key role in supporting our Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) program and broader ship repair initiatives. You’ll represent ISI Engineering across multiple internal and external touchpoints, ensuring high‑quality engineering support is delivered on time and aligned with program needs.


You will collaborate closely with engineering teams - including Field Service, Production, and Project Engineering - while also working with Programs, Planning, Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality Control. In this role, you’ll also engage with Design Agents, Classification Societies, subcontractors, vendors, and the Customer to help drive successful project outcomes.



Responsibilities

  • Manage planned and emergent engineering work within your assigned scope 

  • Support internal and external stakeholders with timely and accurate technical input 

  • Originates routine or low‑complexity engineering deliverables 

  • Review technical work products developed by external organizations 

  • Author processes and procedures for recurring engineering support and deliverables 

  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to support project success 

  • Identify and champion Continuous Improvement opportunities



Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or equivalent; Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (or equivalent)

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in ship design, ship construction, or relevant complex industrial/manufacturing environments

  • Knowledge of modern naval ship design, construction, and repair methods 

  • Strong understanding of scheduling with the ability to meet strict deadlines 

  • Exposure or interest in the marine industry (via co‑op, work experience, or academic study) 


Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).


Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
